Payment Tools for Merchants
Small, exact calculators for the numbers that come up in a payment application. They are free to use without starting an assessment, nothing is stored and no email is required to see a result. Each tool covers one part of your payment profile; the assessment is the separate step that looks at your wider business and the payment routes that may fit it.
Available tools
Chargeback ratio calculator
Enter your chargebacks and transactions for the same period and see the ratio as a percentage, with the formula shown.
Rolling reserve calculator
Work out how much money a rolling reserve holds back, using your own volume, percentage and hold period.
MCC lookup
Search merchant category codes by number, category name or everyday wording to find the code that describes your business.
Payment processing cost calculator
Turn a percentage fee and a fixed per-transaction fee into your monthly and annual cost, your effective rate and your cost per payment.
What these tools do and do not tell you
Every result on these pages is arithmetic on the values you type, or a lookup in the published merchant category code list. That makes the output exact, but it also means the output describes your numbers, not a provider's decision.
We deliberately do not attach pass/fail marks, acceptance thresholds or approval likelihoods to these calculations. Acceptable ratios, reserve terms and category restrictions differ by acquirer, scheme programme, licence and country, and they are set in the agreement you sign, not by a public calculator.
For the reasoning behind the numbers, read the chargeback ratio guide, rolling reserve guide and MCC codes guide.
Want to see which payment routes may fit your full profile?
A calculator only sees one number. The assessment looks at your industry, company country, target markets, volume, currencies and history together, then compares that profile against the providers we work with.
